Remote Learning
Attendance in school is an expectation for all children to get the most out of their school experience, including attainment, wellbeing, and wider life chances. However, In the event of unforeseen school closures, such as those experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic or those enforced by potential difficulties with a school site, Meltham CE offers a remote contingency.
Remote education is not be an equal alternative to attendance in school and is used only as a last resort, when the alternative would be no education. In accordance with guidance from the DfE (Department ofr Education), the circumstances where it may not be possible for pupils to receive in person education fit into 2 broad categories:
school closures or restrictions on attendance, where school access for pupils is restricted
individual cases where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able to learn
In the event of a child or children's inability to attend physical schooling, Meltham CE Primary School will make families aware of their remote provision through the established methods of communication (School Spider). Individual work will be set by the class teacher using a variety of resources which can be supported by parents and carers in the home, including online platforms such as Oak National Academy (https://www.thenational.academy) and our Purple Mash platform (https://www.purplemash.com/login/#/). Where possible, school will make printed resources available for children to access outside school and provide resources where children are considered vulnerable.
Please be aware that Meltham CE does not publish all of its weekly learning resources for access on the website. However, relevant information can be found in the curriculum section of the website. Equally, schools are not required to provide remote learning for unauthorised holidays. Where parents are aware there are unavoidable absences (such as hospital stays), the first thing to do is to contact your child's class teacher to discuss how best to support children away from school.
The QR code below, Meltham CE Primary School Remote Learning Plan, will provide you with all the information you need regarding learning we will offer in the event of a child or children having restricted access to school. We hope the following guides for Purple Mash, and ones we have made ourselves, will help make Home Learning a lot easier to use should it be required. You can use the guides as and when you need them, or if you want to use them in the following order, it will give you a good overview of how it works.
