Children at Meltham CE Primary School receive the support they need to learn, play, and grow together in a caring environment. For some children with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), this may involve tailored help or specialised resources to support their progress and ensure they feel fully included in school life.
As an inclusive school, we value the achievements and wellbeing of every child in school and believe every teacher is a teacher of Special Educational Needs. We work hard to be proactive in identifying additional needs at an early stage and to implement strategies that overcome barriers to learning. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments and providing a broad, balanced curriculum that allows every pupil to thrive. Where children are placed on our SEN register, we plan for their unique requirements using an Assess, Plan, Do, Review model, often working together with specialist services and always in partnership with parents and carers.

What is the Kirklees Local Offer?
The Local Offer has been developed by Kirklees Council in partnership with parents, carers, young people, schools, colleges, early years providers and health services in line with the Children and Families Act. It aims to provide information on education, health and social care provision available for disabled children and young people as well as those with special educational needs.
