Letter of welcome to all parents and carers from the Meltham CE Primary School Governing Body

Dear Parent/Carer,

Thank you for your interest in Meltham CE Primary School.

Meltham CE has a long standing tradition of providing our young people with an exceptional, broad and balanced curriculum that promotes personal best not only in academic subjects but beyond the classroom where learners are given further

opportunities to “STANDOUT, BREAKOUT and SHOUTOUT”.

“From little sparkles to shining stars” our holistic approach to your child’s education will see them “grow in confidence to make a difference” not only in their own lives but those of their families, friends and communities.

OFSTED had this to say of our school following our most recent inspection (2022): Meltham CE "is a school that strives equally to develop pupils academically and personally" and that "all pupils study a curriculum that is rich and rewarding (with a) strong commitment to the arts." The report rightly notes that our pupils "are confident in sharing their views while being

respectful of others who may have different views, or experiences, to them."

Our last Anglican Church (SIAMS) inspection (2025) stated that Meltham CE “is living up to its foundation as a Church school and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish.” “The diverse and challenging curriculum reflects the school’s Christian vision” and “develops the whole child ready for life beyond primary school.” It takes a real team effort to achieve this: parents, carers, teachers, governors, support staff and external providers working together to provide the best possible start for your child in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where they can make memories for life.

To make this happen, we recognise that every voice matters and needs to be heard. Our learners are very adept at advocating for themselves and their beliefs through class discussion, School Council, Eco Council or through trusted staff but we would also love to hear from parents and carers! Whether it’s a conversation about learner progress with teachers or intervention leaders, ideas for fundraising as part of our dedicated and ever-generous Parent Staff Association (PSA) (soon to be renamed Friends of Meltham), a desire to volunteer your time and skills in school or to join our governing body, please get in touch.

From learning to read, reading to learn and author events; writing and numeracy to P.E., Music and Art; outdoor play and sports in our exceptional grounds and facilities; to Forest School and gardening; before and after-school provision and annual Sports Days, day trips and residentials, Meltham CE creates wonder in learning. Through our Christian values, high standards and person-centred approach, Meltham C.E. takes inspiration from the Biblical account of King David, where a seemingly “ordinary” individual was transformed into a great leader through hard work, resilience and newfound strength.

The Governing Body is indebted to all those who contribute to the continuing growth of our school, its sparkles and shining stars.

With thanks,

Tom Shires
